It’s Simply Perfect For Beginners – Elephant Paper Craft For Young Kids To Recreate

Today we are sharing a super adorable paper elephant craft for kids to recreate today! Your child will love crafting it up and you’re going to love showing it off!!!

What actually inspired this post was our now viral Balloon Elephant Card craft tutorial from a few years back. After thinking about the shapes I pieced together to make that particular craft come to life, I started to envision what eventually became today’s post. One thing led to another and I also made the FREE printable you will find below, for your convenience in recreating the craft.

It’s just matter of downloading our free elephant template, printing it on paper and then adding a few embellishments to bring it to life! Then you are done crafting, you can round off the elephant theme with a movie night watching Dumbo or reading a few children’s books for a quick story-time.

Anyways… I’ll let you get to it so you can have fun making it as well! Find all the details below!

Happy crafting, my dear friends. Please don’t be shy and be sure to share pictures with us when you complete the elephant craft with your child! You can find us on Facebook and Instagram for easy tagging! We can’t wait to see your paper elephants in action! #gluedtomycrafts

Paper Elephant Craft For Kids

Take a creative break with your kids today! Recreate this fun paper elephant craft together and watch as their imaginations come to life.

Craft Supplies:

  • Elephant Printable – on our landing page
  • Gray Cardstock Paper
  • Pink Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive
  • Large Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First things first. You are going to grab the FREE elephant head template listed above in the supply list.
  • Go ahead and now print the file on a single sheet of gray cardstock. You only need ONE print per paper craft. Print as many as you like!
  • Next use scissors to trim out the elephant shape from the printable.
  • Before you discard the excess paper, cut along one side and make a 1″ inch wide, long paper strip. If you don’t feel like you have enough room to work with {ever printer prints differently} go ahead and just grab another sheet of gray cardstock paper to complete this step.
  • Take the paper strip and fold it a few times, like an accordion to make the elephant’s trunk.
  • Now grab another sheet of colored cardstock, all the other paper pieces, the wiggle eyes and your choice of adhesive.
  • We are going to start off by gluing the elephant head to the center of your large paper.
  • Follow that up by adhering the folded paper “trunk” to the center of the face.
  • Now glue on the eyes so your elephant can see.
  • Finally, if you like, cut out a small paper heart from your pink cardstock.
  • Adhere the paper heart to the end of the paper trunk in the craft.
  • Add any other embellishments you like {like maybe a smiling face like ours} and display your paper elephant masterpiece proudly for all to see!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
