Terra Cotta Pot Scarecrow Craft

Get crafty and use a terra cotta pot to create your own unique version of a scarecrow decoration!

Craft Supplies:

  • Terra Cotta Pot – 1 per pumpkin craft
  • Various Shades of Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Decorative Small Foam Pumpkin
  • Black Sharpie Marker
  • Decorative Plastic Leaves
  • Small Craft Buttons
  • Low-Temp Hot Glue Gun

Directions:

  • First have your child flip the pot over and paint it however they like. We went ahead with two shades of blue, to make an overalls design. You can do whatever the heart desires for this part!!!
  • When done painting, set aside the terra cotta pot to let it dry completely.
  • Next is the pumpkin head. Our pumpkin already had the flowers/decorations on it {thank you Dollar Tree} so all we had to do was paint on a face with a Sharpie marker.
  • Then I hot glued some leaves to the bottom of the pumpkin and then glued that to the pot.
  • To finish off our Terra Cotta Pot Scarecrow – I hot glued some buttons to the front in a line and that was it! Perfect for displaying on the front porch or in your living room! Remember – this idea can be made in LARGE scale too!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
