Handprint Wood Slice Pumpkin - Keepsake Printable

Handprint Pumpkin Keepsake Printable For Fall

It all started with an idea I saw on my friend’s Facebook page. She took some large circular wood slices from Michaels, decorated them to look like pumpkins and then had her grandkids add their handprints to the center for decor.

When I saw the idea, I absolutely fell in love. Like seriously… I wanted to run to Michaels at that very moment and recreate it myself.

But then reality hit me.

I don’t have room for something like that at the moment {it also hit me that I should probably stay away from Michaels too – LOL!}

And then another thing hit me. There are probably a lot of my readers that have the same exact problem as me. Lack of storage and avoiding spending money!

So I went out on a mission to solve this problem. And since I know that the keepsake printables on Glued To My Crafts are always well received, this direction seemed like a good solution for those who don’t want bulky “keepsakes” in their home. I always say it with each keepsake printable post but these simple DIYs are great for framing, scrapbooks or even making them into handmade cards. Daycares often email us, thanking me for providing something so simple but well loved.

Well my friends… here we are today! In this post I’ve given YOU the FREE wood slice design and it’s your turn to run with it! Just download the FREE file below, print and add your child’s little handprint to the center to complete the pumpkin look.

You can pretty much add anything to make it your own but I think paper flowers really give that watercolor wood slice a nice autumn touch. Find the full tutorial below!!!

Happy crafting, my friends! Please don’t forget to share pictures of your child’s finished paper and paint pumpkin keepsake creations on our Facebook page to admire from a far! I can’t wait to see how your child decorates their wood slice pumpkin! #gluedtomycrafts

Get your crafting on with this fun and easy fall project! Create a special keepsake with your little one’s handprint – perfect for preserving memories of this magical season!

Craft Supplies:

  • Pumpkin Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Orange Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Green Sharpie Marker
  • Adhesive or Glue Stick
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipe
  • Embellishments

Instructions:

  • First download the FREE wood slice printable ABOVE. Print it in color on white cardstock. You need one print per craft.
  • Grab your orange craft paint and paper plate.
  • Squirt some paint on the paper plate.
  • Paint your child’s hand completely orange and press it in the center of the printable/wood slice.
  • Clean off your child’s hand with baby wipes and a trip to the sink.
  • But before you clean your brush – use the excess paint on it, to draw a slight orange rim on the pumpkin design. You don’t want it too thick but you want to give your design a little pop of color.
  • Next, using a green marker, draw on a green vine coming from the pumpkin.
  • Glue on your decorative bow.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit, as well as having children sign the bottom.
  • Then display/gift proudly!
