Get crafty this autumn and make your own festive wood slice scarecrow ornament with the kids! Not only will it get them into the spirit of the season, it’s also a chance to create something special that will last for years.

Wood Slice Scarecrow Ornament

Bring the country charm into your home this fall with this fun and easy DIY wood slice scarecrow ornament craft! Perfect for getting the kiddos in the autumn spirit!

CRAFT SUPPLIES:

  • All you need is a small, circular slice of wood {you want it completely flat} some paint crayons {affiliate link on Amazon} a regular sized popsicle stick, googly eyes, small rhinestones, a black marker and a hot glue gun to bring him to life.
  • You can of course add other embellishments to really glam it up for your fall decorating plans. I personally think a small sunflower embellishment is perfect for his hat – hint hint!

DIRECTIONS:

  • To recreate – pull aside one wood slice, one popsicle stick, one rhinestone and two googly eyes.
  • Start off by hot gluing ONE regular sized popsicle stick, right in the middle of your wood slice. This will create the brim of the scarecrow’s hat. You will want the popsicle stick to slightly stick out on each side.
  • Now we are ready to decorate. Use the paint crayons to paint ONE half {the top half and the exposed popsicle stick} of the wood slice for his hat.
  • For the remaining half of the wood slice, decorate it with the wiggle eyes, a rhinestone nose and of course, drawing on his mouth to complete his face.
  • The last step is to set it to hot glue some string to the back of the decorated piece, for easy hanging.
  • Then set it all aside to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly for all to see!
