Summer brings with it lots of time for new creative projects! Here’s an amazing seashell craft idea that kids can make using simple paper plates – a perfect activity to keep them having fun and being creative all summer long!

Paper Plate Shell - Kid Craft Tutorial For Summer Fun!

Seashell Made From A Paper Plate

Calling all my crafty kids!!! School may be out for summer vacation BUT that doesn’t mean the crafty fun has to stop! Today I’m sharing a “beachy” themed kid craft and I think it’s the perfect way to kick off the summer fun this year!

Just like ALL our kid friendly crafts and tutorials on the blog – this Paper Plate Seashell craft activity is super simple, fun for all ages and really inexpensive too! Did I mention it also goes along perfectly with the book There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Shell – by Lucille Colandro?! PLUS this DIY craft makes for great party decorations too!

Paper Plate Shell - Kid Craft Tutorial For Summer Fun!

Get your kiddos ready for summer with this fun and easy seashell craft! Let their imagination run wild as they create colorful seashells out of paper plates. With this activity, summer days will be filled with laughs and creativity.

Craft Supplies:

  • White Paper Plates – 1 per craft
  • Tan Tissue Paper
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Gold Glitter Glue

Directions:

  • First cut some small appears out of the paper plate to make it look like a shell {use my pictures as an example}
  • Next cut your tan tissue paper into small squares.
  • Take your paper plate and put a good amount of glue all over it.
  • Now have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the paper plate shell is completely covered.
  • When they are done with the tissue paper step, simply draw THREE short lines of gold glitter glue in the center/on the decorated paper plate, to give the seashell some dimension.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Now set it aside to allow it to dry completely.
  • When ready – display your finished paper plate seashell craft proudly for ALL to see!
  • Then snap a few pictures to share with us! #gluedtomycrafts
