Paper & Washi Tape Bear In Sweater - Kid Craft Idea

Our adorable friend is going to look his BEST this winter because YOU are going to make it happen with our “paper and washi tape bear in sweater” craft idea!

Craft Supplies:

  • Bear Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Coloring Pencils, Markers etc.
  • Scissors
  • Blue Cardstock Paper
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Adhesive
  • Washi Tape

Directions:

  • First things first – go ahead and print the free blank teddy bear body printable listed above. Print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock. You only need ONE print per craft. Feel free to print as many as you like though!
  • Now grab your choice of coloring instrument and color in the bear in the printable, however you like! From a more neutral brown color to a vibrant rainbow – the choice is yours!
  • Next, using your scissors, carefully trim out the teddy bear design you just decorated, in the printable.
  • Discard excess paper and set aside your cutout piece.
  • Now grab a solid piece of blue cardstock {the background} and another piece of white cardstock paper.
  • Using your hands, tear the white piece of paper to create “snow” for the ground.
  • Secure that piece to the bottom of the larger, solid color. You now have your winter, snowy backdrop.
  • Go ahead and secure the bear, in place, in the center of that.
  • Next up – grab your rolls of washi tape.
  • Start tearing off long pieces of washi tape and placing them on the bear design, in a pattern, to create his sweater. You want his belly to be completely covered.
  • Finally – the last step. Cut out a simple scarf shape from another piece of cardstock paper.
  • Glue it around his neck to complete his outfit.
  • And that’s it! If desired, add some other embellishments you see fit. Maybe some small bows or a little glitter here and there.
  • Now display your masterpiece proudly for ALL to see!

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
