Mixed Media Snowy Birdhouse Craft

This snowy birdhouse craft is perfect for kids! It’s easy to make and the finished product looks beautiful.

Craft Supplies:

  • Cardstock Paper
  • JUMBO Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Paper Scraps
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • White Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Q-Tips
  • Small Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First take your FOUR jumbo popsicle sticks and glue them down in the center of a single sheet of cardstock, to look like a birdhouse {a basic triangle shape with a stick underneath}
  • Now it’s time for the bird’s nesting materials. Cut up two-three pipe cleaners up and glue them inside the newly made bird house.
  • Once the nesting is down, it’s time to add the bird. Cut out a simple bird shape from another piece of cardstock {making sure to add the wiggle eye for him to see} and glue him inside the birdhouse as well..
  • Ready for the final step? Squirt some white paint on a paper plate.
  • Have children dip their q-tip in the paint, then on the mixed media piece to create snow and snowflakes.
  • Once they are done, set aside their snowy birdhouse paper masterpiece to let it dry completely!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
