Fluttering By Keepsake Craft Idea

Today’s Handprint Mother’s Day Butterfly Keepsake tutorial is super easy to make within minutes and it’s relatively inexpensive too.

If you have a printer in your home – you are well on your way to pulling this idea together and creating a great keepsake for mom to treasure for years to come {plus the finished piece fits nicely in a scrapbook too!}

In this post, I’ve included a FREE butterfly themed printable template, so all you need to do is print the file, grab some paint and have your children add ONE handprint wing to complete the craft. It’s super simple to accomplish, so you have NO excuse NOT to do it!

So don’t “fly” away just yet my dear friends! Download the file below and get to work on creating this adorable keepsake today. Then place it in a beautiful frame or in a scrapbook for mom to unwrap on Mother’s Day! BTW – with all that being said, it’s honestly the easiest Mother’s Day card idea for toddlers!

Handprint Butterfly Mother's Day Keepsake

With bright colors and a touch of creativity, this artistic keepsake is more than just a display piece – it’s a lasting memory that will continually warm a mother’s heart through the years.

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Butterfly Printable – from our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Baby Wipes

Directions:

  • First print out the free butterfly template printable on white cardstock paper. You only need ONE print per keepsake.
  • Squirt some craft paint on a paper plate.
  • Pick a hand – any hand!
  • Paint the palm of your child’s hand completely and press it on the printable, next to the butterfly’s body. Really wiggle those fingers so the paint transfers to the paper.
  • Now lift up their hand and remove excess paint with a few baby wipes & a quick trip to the sink.
  • Set aside the paper piece to allow it to dry completely.
  • When ready, add other embellishments you see fit like stickers, glitter etc.
  • Don’t forget to have kids sign the bottom!
  • Then display/gift away your child’s Handprint Mother’s Day Butterfly piece proudly!
