No need to scared by crafty friends! Today’s Paper Plate and Chalk Art Monster Hair craft idea is simply PERFECT for children of ALL ages and honestly has no real rules or a wrong way to do it!

With complete customization at your child’s fingertips, this inexpensive paper plate and sidewalk chalk craft idea is sure to bring endless fun to your home, this upcoming Halloween season!

You can make your new monster friend be super wacky, a little hairy or frightfully delightful. I won’t judge! Whatever you do – I hope you have fun creating it, right along side your child!

Paper Plate & Chalk Art Monster Craft Idea For Halloween Paper Plate & Chalk Art Monster Craft Idea For Halloween Paper Plate & Chalk Art Monster Hair

Let your kids unleash their inner artist with this fun and easy monster hair craft! This activity is sure to bring hours of creative playtime, and they’ll love how their monsters turn out!

Craft Supplies:

  • Small Paper Plate
  • Scissors
  • Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Sidewalk Chalk
  • Baby Wipes
  • Stapler
  • School Glue
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Black Sharpie Marker

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your small paper plate and scissors.
  • Cut the paper plate, straight down the center, into TWO equal halves.
  • Reserve one half for today’s monster craft and save the other for a rainy day.
  • Now grab your choice of color in craft paint and the foam paint brush.
  • Squirt some paint in the middle of the paper plate half and move it around with the foam paint brush, until the paper plate is completely covered.
  • When done painting, set aside the paper plate to allow it to dry completely.
  • Now grab your black cardstock and the scissors again.
  • Fold the black cardstock paper in half and open it back up.
  • Use scissors to again to cut straight up the center, to create two equal pieces.
  • Reserve one black paper piece for today’s craft and save the other for another day.
  • Now grab your pieces of sidewalk chalk.
  • Make several lines, all over the black cardstock, to recreate the monster’s wacky hair. Add as much or as little as you like.
  • When done with the chalk, set aside the paper piece and clean your hands off with a few baby wipes.
  • Now grab your painted paper piece, the sidewalk chalk paper and stapler.
  • Start off by stapling the painted paper plate half to the bottom portion of the black cardstock with the chalk lines. You want it to look like the hair is coming the monster’s head.
  • Follow that up by gluing on the wiggle eyes to the paper plate and drawing on a monster smile with the Sharpie marker.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit {maybe some glitter or some Halloween themed stickers for a festive look.}
  • Then display your custom one-of-a-kind paper chalk art monster piece proudly for all to see!
