Get creative this Halloween! Unleash your inner monster-maker and make spooky-cute critters out of wood sticks and craft supplies.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – gluing the popsicle sticks together. Grab NINE jumbo popsicle sticks and your school glue.
  • Glue them together to look like a fence. Seven next to each other and two across.
  • Repeat the above steps for each love monster you want to make today.
  • Set aside the popsicle stick shape to allow it to dry a bit.
  • When ready – decide what color {or colors} you want your Halloween monster craft to be.
  • Squirt that shade of craft paint on your paper plate.
  • Use the foam paint brush to paint one side of your popsicle stick square shape completely.
  • Again, set it aside to allow it to dry a bit.
  • Now you are ready for the embellishments. Grab all your cardstock paper sheets and scissors.
  • Cut out eyes, ears, wacky hair, antennas and other facial features from the cardstock. (The funnier the monster, the better!)
  • To finish off your DIY #cutenotscary monster craft, glue your paper pieces in place on the front of the painted craft stick base, as well as any of the buttons, glitter or any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then let it all dry completely before displaying and/or playing with proudly!!!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
