Get into the Halloween spirit with some art! Let’s get creative this year and make some stained glass lanterns to light up your spooky night.

Craft Supplies:

  • Lantern Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Coloring Pencils, Crayons or Markers
  • Craft Scissors
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Orange, Yellow & Black Tissue Paper
  • Loose Craft Glitter
  • Halloween Spider Stickers

Directions:

  • First print out the FREE blank lantern template above. You will want one printable, per Halloween light craft.
  • Next grab your choice of coloring utensil and color in the top & bottom section of the lantern design. You can color those two sections however you like but keep in mind that you want the center portion to remain blank.
  • When done coloring, go ahead and grab your scissors & the decorated lantern printable.
  • Trim out the design, as well as the inside portion of the lantern.
  • Before you discard the excess paper, cut out TWO small ghost shapes for inside your lantern.
  • Use a marker to draw faces on your two ghost cutouts.
  • Now grab your clear contact paper.
  • Cut out TWO pieces that are bigger than the lantern cutout.
  • Remove the backing from one piece of contact paper.
  • Lay it on a flat surface.
  • Place the lantern cutout, face down, on the contact paper.
  • Now add the cutouts, face down, inside the lantern as well.
  • Next decorate the inside of their camping light however you like with tissue paper squares {I did various shades of orange, yellow and black in mine, as well as loose star shaped craft glitter.}
  • Once you are done creating the contents, grab the second piece of contact paper.
  • Peel off the backing and place it on top of the other piece of contact paper, moving your hand around to “squish” everything together.
  • To finish off the Stained Glass Halloween Light craft, use your scissors to trim out the cup/remove the excess contact paper.
  • Add on some small spider stickers on the outside to really tie the theme together.
  • Then display proudly on a window with a little bit of clear tape!!!

Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
