Heart Shaped Valentine Monster Craft

Make adorable and kid friendly Valentine’s Day love monsters with our simple step-by-step tutorial today! Perfect for a school project or craft party.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Craft Foam Hearts
  • Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Googly Eyes
  • Loose Craft Glitter
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Craft Pom Poms
  • Stapler
  • Embellishments

 Directions:

  • One craft foam heart will make ONE Valentine love monster.
  • Just like you would decorate a face, have children think of how they would decorate their craft foam heart like a monster face.
  • First you will want to bend in half and twist your pipe cleaner for the antennas.
  • Staple it on the top of the craft foam heart, preferably on the back for a seamless look.
  • Next grab your cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out facial features from it. We did pointy triangular teeth and scallop punched eyes. Children can also cut out funky ears, hair, noses etc.
  • To finish off your Craft Foam Love Monsters, have children glue their cardstock pieces and pom pom noses in place on the front of the craft foam heart.
  • Then have them add any other embellishments they see fit {like a mouth made out of glue and glitter} before setting it aside to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat for each Valentine monster they/you want to make!
  • Remember to encourage children to really add their own crafty spin along the way!!!
  • Don’t forget to share pictures with us on your social media sites! #gluedtomycrafts

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
