Directions:

  • First things first – print out our FREE lift you up printable listed above. You only need one printable per handmade card. Feel free to print as many as you like but the free file is only for PERSONAL USE or in a classroom setting.
  • Once you have the printable printed out, grab your choice of coloring utensils.
  • Color in the emoji face, as well as the heart shape in printable. You can color them in however you like. Don’t forget to also sign your name on the heart!
  • When you are done, use scissors to cut out the decorated face and heart shape from the printable. Discard excess paper and set aside your two pieces.
  • Now grab one sheet of colored cardstock {any color you like!} and a pencil.
  • Go ahead and one by one, trace both of your hands on the cardstock.
  • Trim out both handprints and set them aside.
  • Grab another piece of cardstock {preferably a different color from your handprint cutouts.}
  • You are going to fold the paper into a “gatefold” card shape.
  • Once you have the card made, it’s time to do all the assembling!
  • Go ahead and open up your paper card. Secure the face and the heart shape in the center of the card.
  • Add the handprint cutouts, facing up, on each side of the open card.
  • After that step, make sure that card will close up nicely with the handprints inside and re-adjust them if need be.
  • Last step is to take a LONG piece of string and tie the card closed for easy gifting.
  • Then give away your creative “handprint lift you up” card to that lucky receiver!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
