Paper Plate Traffic Stoplight – Transportation Kid Craft Idea
CALLING ALL MY CRAFTY MOM FRIENDS! Today’s Paper Plate Stoplight kid craft idea is PERFECT for those children who love everything and anything transportation related {my son is ALL about trucks and cars these days so of course he inspired this simple DIY}
Today’s post is just like the real stoplights you see on roads today. A simple paper plate is cut in half to create the top and bottom of the light. Then throw in some more colored cardstock and a little black paint & you have the recipe to a fun craft for all ages!
So without ado – check out the full tutorial below! This kid friendly craft is a great learning experience and of course – it’s super easy, inexpensive and fun for all ages! These paper plate stoplights don’t require fancy tools OR a big wallet either. It’s just plain ole’ simple craft fun!

PAIR THIS TRAFFIC STOPLIGHT CRAFT WITH —> Graham Cracker Stoplight Kid Snack
Stoplight Craft Supplies:
* Large or Small Paper Plate {one per stoplight craft}
* Black Craft Paint
* Paint Brush
* Red/Green/Yellow/Black Cardstock Paper
* School Glue
* Kid Friendly Scissors
* Hand-Held Office Stapler

Directions:
* First cut your paper plate in half. This will give you the TOP and BOTTOM of the stoplight.
* Now take your black craft paint and paint both halves, completely black with the paint brush. Set aside to let it dry.
* Take your black cardstock and cut out a long rectangle piece to be the center of the stoplight.
* Staple the painted paper plate halves, to the top and bottom of the black cardstock piece.
* When you are done with that, grab the remaining colored cardstock. Cut out a small circle from each {red, yellow and green}
* To finish off the Paper Plate Spotlight kid craft – glue the three “colored light circles” in order, on the black cardstock piece. Then display proudly!

Don’t forget, you can also take this concept and make stoplights in “mini” form. Just take jumbo popsicle sticks, paint them completely black and add cardstock “lights” to finish. These small wooden pieces can then be secured in a dollop of playdough to be used in a pretend play town or with toy cars on a carpet road map.
