Pizza Craft Using A Paper Plate

Hi my crafty readers! It comes as no surprise {seriously – it’s no secret around here} but I absolutely LOVE sharing with you all my kid friendly craft tutorials that go along perfectly with some of our favorite children’s book.

So you better believe that today I’m SUPER excited to be adding another crafty art project idea to the blog archives. This time we are making our own cheese & pepperoni PIZZAS but out of paper plates, tissue paper and cardstock paper!

Today’s blog post is titled Paper Plate Pizza and it’s gooey goodness goes perfectly along with the book – Secret Pizza Party by Adam Rubin.

Not only is the pizza them book a great read for children {you learn how the raccoon who loves stealing pizza slices, pulls off the perfect secret pizza party} but the craft idea in today’s post, is tons of fun and super easy for children of all ages! Paired together with the book {and perhaps some real pizza} it’s the perfect way to celebrate the afternoon away!

So what are you waiting for? This Paper Plate Pizza craft idea isn’t going to make itself!!! Follow my step-by-step tutorial below and let the fun begin! Remember – it’s great at home AND in the classroom for older kids! Happy crafting, my friends!

Paper Plate Pizza - Kid Craft Idea Using Paint & Tissue Paper

This fun and easy paper plate pizza craft is perfect for kids! They can paint the toppings on their pizza and add tissue paper to create a realistic looking piece!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Yellow Tissue Paper
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Brown Paint
  • Paint Brush

Directions:

  • First have children paint the edge of the paper plate brown, to represent the pizza crust.
  • Next cut the yellow tissue paper into small squares {let the kids practice their cutting skills}
  • Now take your paper plate and put a good amount of glue in the center of the plate.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the center is completely covered for the yellow cheese.
  • While they are working on that, cut out some circles from the red cardstock, to represent the pepperoni.
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Pepperoni Pizza craft – have children glue on the pepperoni pieces in random spots on the paper plate.
  • At this point in time, you can add other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then set aside to let it all dry completely before you display it proudly for all to see!
  • Now share pictures with us on your social media sites! You can tag us on Instagram for easy sharing! I can’t wait to see your child’s version of a homemade pizza! #gluedtomycrafts
