DIY Pretend Play Pizza Making - Handmade Busy Bag Idea

Pizza Making Kit For Kids

My son {like most young kids} likes to pretend to cook things up. He’s always mixing and measuring things from his pretend kitchen items, to later bring to us for ‘eating.’ It’s amazing how big his imagination is – even at the young age of three. I just hope he keeps his cooking skills up {and his future wife appreciates it!}

So today’s post is all about a Play Felt Pizza Making Busy Bag Idea I recently put together for my young inspiring chef.

Majority of the pieces are made out of craft felt and overall, this DIY pizza pie craft is super easy to put together. Plus you can customize this pizza building kit to what colored felt you have on hand {using up those scraps you may have floating around!}

What kid doesn’t like making pizza? So why not make a pretend play food set for your child today and let that crafty kitchen imagination take place before your eyes?! Find all the details below in the tutorial! Happy crafting, my friends!

DIY Pretend Play Pizza Making - Handmade Busy Bag Idea

With your child’s felt play pizza making kit, kids can create delicious “pretend” pizzas in just a few steps!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Canvas Triangles
  • Craft Felt Sheets – red, green, yellow, white, black
  • Fabric Craft Scissors
  • optional materials – felt glue, ribbon scraps, fabric paints

Directions:

  • First things first – get your thinking cap on. Imagine a pizza and all the toppings that could go on it.
  • Now take that thought bubble and cut your felt pieces to look like pizza toppings. Think pepperoni {red felt} green bell peppers {green felt} and onions {white felt} Omit things or add the unthinkable. Ask your child to brainstorm w/you on what toppings should be made.
  • To play – just lay the felt pieces on top of the canvas triangles just like you would build a pizza.
  • Repeat over and over again. You can even dig out some small plates and plastic kitchen gadgets too to make it extra fun!
  • When done playing with your felt play pizza, simply store all your felt pieces in a large plastic baggie for safe keeping.

Customize It:

  • If you want to change up your pizza pieces, grab some fabric paint and/or cardstock paper to give your felt pieces even more shine and sparkle! You could even use glitter glue or ribbon pieces to make various toppings. So many ideas – just raid your craft stash to make it happen!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
