Fingerprint Troll Hair Craft Idea

With the help of some clipart files I recently purchased from LisaMarkleSparkles on Etsy {a HUGE shout out to her if you ever need cute graphics for your crafts!} I was able to come up with this rainbow colored troll hair DIY with ease!!!

It’s an idea that is super easy to make within minutes and it’s relatively inexpensive too. If you have a printer in your home – you are well on your way to pulling this bright and colorful troll craft activity together in no time! Best part? No two pieces will EVER be alike! Just like in the movie, they all will have their own personality, style and flair!

In this very post, I’ve included a FREE blank troll head printable template, so all you need to do is print the file on some simple white cardstock paper, grab some of your favorite ink pads and have children decorate the troll’s hair with thumbprint marks.  Once done, color in the head design and add plastic googly eyes for them to see! Easy peasy!

So let’s get to it! Download the file below and get to work on creating these adorable craft pieces today. I hope you join in on the fun as well and make an awesome crafter-noon out of it!

Happy crafting my friends! Please don’t forget to share pictures with us! You can find us on Instagram for easy tagging these days! Don’t shy – come give us a follow as well! #gluedtomycrafts

Just print and add multi-colored fingerprints all over to bring your troll’s hair to life!

Craft Supplies:

  • Troll Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Ink Pads
  • Baby Wipes
  • Crayons/Markers
  • Glue Stick
  • Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First print out the free template printable on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. You only need ONE print per craft.
  • Next grab your various colors of ink pads.
  • Have children press their thumb {or any other finger} on the ink pad, then on the printable to create the troll’s hair. Change up the color and direction of each thumbprint, to make a mosaic look.
  • Repeat until you have the look you like.
  • When done, clean off ink from fingers with the baby wipes and a quick trip to the sink.
  • Now, to finish off the thumbprint troll hair craft, color in the troll’s face with crayons and add wiggle eyes for your friend to see with.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit {like glitter, rhinestones etc.} before displaying proudly!
  • Don’t forget to share pictures with us afterwards of your paper troll craft creations! #gluedtomycrafts

EXTRA CRAFT TIP – if ink pads is not your thing {or you don’t want stained fingers afterwards} you can also use washable craft paint instead! Just squirt the paint on a small paper plate and follow the same steps as above.

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
