Handprint Giraffe Keepsake Idea

So who has been watching the giraffe baby watch feed?! Admit it – you are right there with me, waiting for April to have her baby. Am I right? It’s sooooo fun to watch. I seriously can’t wait till she has it.

Anyways – I was “slightly” inspired by April the giraffe and that’s what brought me to sharing today’s Paper Handprint Giraffe kid craft idea! One thing led to another and we had a great handprint paper piece that look exactly like a giraffe!

It’s simply perfect for a zoo themed lesson plan in the classroom or a circus theme at home! Not to mention – it’s also a great keepsake for parents, as well!!!

Paper Handprint Giraffe - Kid Craft

Keep those little ones entertained with this fun and easy yellow giraffe paper craft! It’s the perfect zoo-inspired activity for kids of all ages!

Craft Supplies:

  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Marker or Pencil
  • Basic Paper Craft Scissors
  • Basic School Glue
  • Large Wiggle Eyes {two per giraffe craft}

Directions:

  • First grab your yellow cardstock paper.
  • Trace your child’s hand and arm on the yellow cardstock paper.
  • Have them lift up their hand.
  • Now trim out the traced design and discard the leftover yellow cardstock paper.
  • Next grab your black cardstock paper.
  • Cut out TWO large black circles that will be placed on the “horns” of the giraffe.
  • Go ahead and glue them to the tips of TWO of the fingers in the cutout.
  • Now grab your brown cardstock paper.
  • Cut out several small circles from it {as many or as little as you like!}
  • Now glue those all over the handprint paper cutout.
  • Finish off the Handprint Paper Giraffe craft by drawing on a face and adding some wiggle eyes for it to see!
  • Then set in an undisturbed area for it to dry completely, before displaying proudly!!!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures to share with us! #gluedtomycrafts
