Popsicle Stick Giraffe - Kid Craft Puppet

Giraffe Popsicle Stick Puppet

So who has been keeping an eye on the giraffe baby watch feed?!

Seriously – by the time she has her baby, I’ll have a baby AND I have NO intentions of having a baby! Am I right?! Hopefully “maybe” my post will inspire that little cutie to come today! Fingers crossed!

Anyways – I was “slightly” inspired by April the giraffe and that’s what brought me to today’s Popsicle Stick Giraffe kid craft idea!

It’s simply perfect for a zoo themed lesson plan or just because you want to pass the time. Not to mention – it’s great for a pretend piece as well! So enough chit chat from me, all the supplies and directions are in the full tutorial below!

Happy crafting my friends!! Don’t forget to share pictures of your child’s finished Craft Stick Giraffe Friend by tagging us on Instagram. I can’t wait to see what you make! #gluedtomycrafts

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • Black Craft Paint
  • Yellow Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Paint Brushes
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Large Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • Grab your popsicle sticks {one jumbo and three mini} and glue.
  • Glue together the craft sticks {using my picture as example} to look like the neck and head of the giraffe.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat for each puppet you want to make today.
  • Next grab your craft paint and squirt it on the paper plate.
  • Go ahead and paint your popsicle stick shape completely yellow.
  • Once done, using the other end of the paint brush, drawing on little black dots all over your painted piece.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now you are ready for the giraffe horns. Grab your black cardstock and cut out some small horns for the top of the craft.
  • Finish off the Popsicle Stick Giraffe craft by gluing on your wiggle eye and cardstock paper piece.
  • Then set in an undisturbed area for it to dry completely, before displaying/playing with proudly!!!
