Painted Footprint Palm Tree Canvas - Kid Craft Idea

Palm Tree Footprint Canvas

Hi my dear crafty friends! It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a footprint art project idea on the Glued To My Crafts blog, so today I’m putting that nonsense to a halt with our latest Footprint Palm Tree Canvas idea.

Not only is this palm tree themed keepsake idea really simple for you to do with your child BUT it also goes along perfectly with the bestselling children’s favorite Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambault.

It’s a creative story that teaches little ones their letters in a lively and rhythmic way. It’s definitely a keeper to add to your child’s book shelf {if I do say so myself!}

So don’t delay – let’s grab those craft supplies and recreate this footprint palm tree canvas idea today! Then take your beautiful piece to display proudly in your home. With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day right around the corner – this palm tree craft idea is also perfect as a gift for a loved one!

Happy crafting my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your child’s palm tree decor creations with us on our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram! #gluedtomycrafts

Painted Footprint Palm Tree Canvas - Kid Craft Idea

Get creative with the kiddos and try this fun footprint palm tree canvas craft idea! It’s a great way to make lasting memories and sweet pieces of wall art.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Blank Canvas
  • Light Green Craft Paint
  • Dark Green Craft Paint
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • Between each step – be sure to let the paint dry completely so colors don’t bleed together.
  • First grab your brown craft paint and paint the trunk of the palm tree on the canvas. This will give you a good eyeball on where to place your child’s painted footprints.
  • Next squirt the two shades of green paint on your paper plate.
  • Alternate between the light green and dark green paint to make the palm tree leaves {I did four leaves but you can do more/less} This is simply done by painting your child’s feet and pressing them on the canvas.
  • Remove excess paint from their feet with baby wipes and quick trip to the tub.
  • Once the paint is dry on the canvas, grab the brown paint again and paint two coconuts in the center of the palm tree.
  • Add other embellishments as you sit fit and display your footprint palm tree art piece proudly for all to see!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
