Giraffe Craft Idea For Kids

Inspired by the book Laughing Giraffe by Mwenye Hadithi, today I present to you our yellow giraffe story time kid craft idea!

In the days long ago, Giraffe was the noisiest animal on the Great African Plain. He shouted a lot and he laughed all the time. This is the story of how the littlest Egret proved to Laughing Giraffe that you don’t need to be loud to be heard.

So whether you decide to make this fun DIY idea in honor of the book mentioned above, a safari themed school week or just because – I hope our simple craft idea inspires YOU! You can find all the details and supply list, listed below in our super straight-forward yellow giraffe craft tutorial!

Tissue Paper & Paper Plate Giraffe - Kid Craft Idea

This easy and fun tissue paper and paper plate giraffe craft is perfect for kids of all ages!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Yellow Tissue Paper
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First cut your yellow tissue paper into small squares.
  • Take your paper plate and put a good amount of glue all over it.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the paper plate is completely covered.
  • While they are working on that, cut out some giraffe facial features from the cardstock paper. Think eyes, ears, long nose etc.
  • To finish off the Yellow Giraffe kids craft – staple/glue the cardstock pieces in their designated spots on the paper plate, as well as any other embellishments they see fit.
  • Then display proudly!
