Hi there friends! It’s Stacey from Glued To My Crafts, swimming by today with this awesome and super easy Popsicle Stick Blue Whale kid craft idea! It’s absolutely perfect to add to your summer plans or lesson unit!

Using easy-to-find wooden popsicle sticks, craft paint and colored cardstock paper – you too can make this beach-friendly whale creature come to life within minutes! Then you can use him as fun summer decor or for some fun pretend puppet play in the living room! The possibilities are endless!

So what are we waiting for? Let’s grab those craft supplies, follow the full craft tutorial below and have a “whale-of-a-good-time” recreating it this afternoon! I just know you are going to rock it with your child today! Happy crafting my friends!!!

Popsicle Stick Whale - Kid Craft Idea

This fun popsicle stick whale craft is perfect for kids of all ages! It’s a great way to get creative and have some fun.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Blue Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Wiggle Eye
  • Paper Craft Scissors

Directions:

  • First glue your popsicle sticks together to look like a fence {THREE next to each other with TWO mini across} Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat.
  • Next grab your craft paint and paint the front of your popsicle stick design completely blue.
  • Set aside to allow it to dry completely.
  • Now you are ready for the cardstock. Cut out some fins, a tail and some “water” to come out of the whale.
  • To finish off your blue whale craft – have children glue on their cardstock paper pieces, as well the wiggle eye so he can see.
  • Then let it all sit aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!
