Paper Sand Castle Art Project For Kids To Tackle This Summer!

This paper sand castle art craft is a wonderful indoor summer project for kids to recreate today. I’ve even included a free printable template to get you started within a matter of minutes!

Paper Sand Castle Art Project For Kids To Tackle This Summer!

Sand Castle Craft Idea Using Sand Paper

It’s been raining on and off in Tampa for the past two weeks.

Every time I think we are FINALLY going to get out of this apartment and do something fun at the nearby beach, the rain clouds roll in. Plans diverted. Never fails.

Well… if you are finding yourself in the same situation with the weather and just NEED something to keep the kids busy today, you are in the right place with us here at Glued To My Crafts. No matter what it looks like out your window right now, you can still do something “beach-like” but indoors instead!

Today I’m sharing how we recently made paper sand castles on the kitchen table and I would like to “think” it was just as fun as the real deal. Maybe even better because sand didn’t get in weird places or in my newly vacuumed car. HA! Plus it lasts much longer in the grand-scheme of things!

I’ve been on a kick lately with the download, print and decorate crafts. Have you noticed? Just like recent “unicorn pool party friend” tutorial, you are just going to download our free sand castle template, print it on white paper and decorate it however you like to make a custom piece. I even included some leftover sand paper scrapes in ours from our starfish wishes card tutorial, so we really got the sand castle art effect!

Now without further ado – all the details and free file can be found below! I’ll stop talking now and let you get to “building” your own sand castle on paper today!

Please don’t forget to share pictures of your sand castle paper pieces. You can find us on Facebook or tag us on Instagram. I can’t wait to see your beautiful creations! Happy crafting, my friends! #gluedtomycrafts

PAIR YOUR BEACH THEMED CRAFT WITH —> Paper Plate Mermaid House

Paper Sand Castle Art Project For Kids

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Sand Castle Printable {access it on box.com}
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Color Printer
  • Crayons, Pencils, Markers etc.
  • Kid Friendly Paper Craft Scissors
  • Blue Colored Construction Paper
  • Brown Colored Construction Paper
  • Tan Sand Paper

Directions:

  • First things first – grab our free sandcastle printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Next, go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print the file on a single sheet of white cardstock. One print equals one sandcastle craft. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use only please.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in the castle design, however you like.
  • When done coloring in the piece, use your craft scissors to trim it out.
  • Now grab a single sheet of blue colored paper and your choice of adhesive.
  • Glue the colored in castle piece to the center of the blue colored paper.
  • Now grab your sand paper. Tear long pieces {or cut it} to make “sand” to put on the bottom of the castle. Adhere it in place.
  • Next grab the brown colored paper. Cut out doors, windows etc.
  • Adhere those pieces to your castle.
  • When done add ocean themed stickers and any other embellishments you see fit to the paper {maybe some glitter or small rhinestone stickers!}
  • Then display your custom one-of-a-kind paper sandcastle art piece proudly for all to see!

Change It Up:

  • Instead of printing the free castle file I’ve provided above on a simple sheet of white cardstock, swap it out for colored paper instead and take out the “coloring in” step listed above.
  • Don’t feel limited by my choice of colors that I used as an example in this paper house tutorial. I went with more shades of tan and brown but who says you can’t have a pink or purple sandcastle?!
  • Don’t have a printer at home? No worries my friends! Just hand-draw and cut out your own castle shape. I actually highly encourage you to try this so you can really BUILD your own sand-castle today!
