Super Colorful Paper Plate Parrot - Kid Craft Idea

This paper plate parrot craft is perfect for kids! It’s a great way to teach them about colors and animals.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Colored Markers
  • Light Blue Tissue Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • Ribbon or Yarn
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First cut your paper plate in half. One half will the head of the parrot, while the other half will be the body.
  • Let’s work on the head first. Have children color their paper plate to look like the face of the parrot. We did this by coloring one half to look like the beak and the other where the eye would go.
  • Go ahead and glue the wiggle eye on this piece. Set aside.
  • Next is the body. Cut your tissue paper {we did a light shade of blue} into small squares.
  • Glue those pieces down all over the paper plate half.
  • Now grab your ribbon {or yarn} and cut several long stripes.
  • Go ahead and staple those to the tissue paper plate plate half to represent the feathers of the parrot.
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Parrot – staple the two paper plates together.
  • Now display your parrot creation proudly for all to see!!!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
