Crafting with kids is so much fun! Show them how to create this beautiful and easy sunflower craft with tissue paper and paper plates. Perfect for these summer days!

Paper Plate Sunflower {Kid Craft}

This is an easy and fun kids craft idea that will keep the little ones entertained for hours!

All you need are some paper plates, yellow tissue paper, black glitter glue, and cardstock paper. Follow our simple tutorial to make these adorable sunflowers in no time!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Yellow Tissue Paper
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • Black Glitter Glue
  • School Glue
  • Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
  • Hand-Held Stapler

Directions:

  • First cut your yellow tissue paper into small squares. Set them aside.
  • Next, cut out your sunflower petals from the yellow cardstock.
  • Take your petals and staple them to the outside rim of the paper plate. {Trust me – do this first!}
  • Now slather a good amount of glue all over the inside of the plate.
  • Have your child cover the paper plate with the tissue paper squares.
  • Once completely covered, draw some black glue dots on top of the tissue paper to make the “sunflower seeds” in the craft. Btw – if you don’t have black glue, black craft paint dots would work too!
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Yellow Sunflower craft, let everything dry completely before displaying proudly.

Super easy, right? And of course – if you don’t have yellow tissue paper or the black glitter glue – you can easily substitute things out for what you have on hand.

I’ve seen people do pepper corns/black pepper in place of the sunflower seeds. Just remember to have fun with it!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
