  • Page 1 Printable – on box.com
  • Page 2 Printable – on box.com
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons and/or Markers
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick

Directions:

  • First things first – print out the FREE printables listed above, each on one sheet of white cardstock. You only need one of each, per craft. So one owl and one heart printable. Print as many as you like!
  • Have children decorate the printables however they like with the crayons. Give the owl shape some Valentine’s Day flair and add your own messages to the heart cutouts.
  • Once done, use scissors to trim out each piece in the two printables. Discard the excess paper, while setting them aside for a bit.
  • Grab the colored cardstock, a pencil and your scissors. Trace both of your child’s hands on the paper.
  • Trim out the traced handprints with the scissors. Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab the glue stick and all your paper pieces.
  • Take the handprints and slightly fold them and glue the palms of the handprints {fingertips should be facing you} in place behind the owl paper piece, so it looks like they belong to his body.
  • Now take the two heart cutouts and glue them to the palms of the handprints, making sure the handprints can close up again and hiding the heart piece inside {please refer to our images for better understanding.}
  • And that’s it! Add other embellishments you see fit to your Paper Valentine Owl Friend before displaying and/or gifting proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
