Paper Plate Black Cat In Pumpkin - Kid Craft

Black Cat In Paper Plate Pumpkin Craft Idea

Due to the popularity of my recent “Monster In Pumpkin” post and a sales flyer I got in the mail from Paper Source, I came up with a Black Cat in Pumpkin kid craft idea to share with you all today. You guys – I’m so excited for this craft tutorial and I hope you are too!

If you are new around here, we love sharing craft ideas that make you go WOW but don’t frustrate you. With the free cat face and paws template I’ve included below, you can make a Halloween themed black cat piece with your child, that is not spooky or super hard to recreate! We truly believe that motto every day of the year on Glued To My Crafts, but most importantly around the holidays.

I know you might be running low on patience these days {you still got this mama!} as we get closer to the BIG spook-tacular night, but this idea is just a matter of cut, color and glue!

Super cute, easy and adorable is exactly how I would describe this Halloween inspired kids craft tutorial! Simple PURR-FECT! Don’t you think?! Find all the details and FREE template below! Happy crafting, my friends!

PAIR YOUR HALLOWEEN CAT CRAFT WITH —> Popsicle Stick Spell Book

Paper Plate Black Cat In Pumpkin - Kid Craft

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Cat Template {grab it on box.com}
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Color Printer
  • Crayons, Coloring Pencils or Markers
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Large Paper Plate – one per cat craft
  • Orange Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Large Eyeball Stickers or Wiggle Eyes – two per cat craft
  • optional materials – green ribbon or pipe cleaner for pumpkin stem

Directions:

  • First things first – print the cat template that is listed above in the supply list. Print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. You need ONE cat printable per craft.
  • Grab the crayons {or markers, pencils etc.} and color the cat face and paws in the printable. I went with black but you can go with ANY color{s} you like.
  • Once done with the coloring, trim out each section in the printable and set aside. Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab the large paper plate, paint brush and orange craft paint. Have children paint their paper plate completely ORANGE.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry a bit.
  • Now grab your black and brown cardstock.
  • Out of the black cardstock, cut out some jack-o-lantern features.
  • Out of the brown cardstock, trim out a rectangular stem for the pumpkin. Set those aside.
  • Grab your painted paper plate and scissors. Cut out a small section to be the “lid” of the pumpkin. Just a sliver should be cut off and be the “hat” for the cat.
  • Now grab the stapler, glue and all the cardstock pieces.
  • Staple the cat face to the larger paper plate piece, and follow that up by stapling on the pumpkin top “hat” to the cat’s head.
  • Go ahead and either staple or glue the cat paws in place on the paper plate.
  • Add the wiggle eyes so your cat can see.
  • Finish that off by gluing on the black jack-o-lantern pieces to the center of the larger paper plate piece.
  • Finally – take the green ribbon, tie it like a bow and staple it to the pumpkin piece, along with the brown cardstock stem on top.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit before displaying proudly!
