Stained Glass Pirate Treasure Chest Craft Idea For Kids

AHOY my crafty friends! Are you ready to dig up some pirate booty and make your own paper stained glass treasure chest with your child today?

With our Stained Glass Treasure Chest kid craft idea and free printable template below, your child is going to go on a “quest” to make something extra crafty that is perfect to display on the windows today! It’s time for some pirate themed fun!!!

Have kids “set the sails” with our simple treasure box craft for preschoolers idea, while making their own version of what a pirate chest should have inside! No two pieces will be alike and that’s what makes this EXTRA FUN!

So what will be inside YOUR treasure chest? Glitter, sequins, maybe even some paper gold coins? Whatever you decide to place in it – we hope you have fun “mixing” it up!

What Will Be In Your Treasure Chest - Kid Craft

This stained glass treasure chest is a great kids craft idea that will keep them entertained for hours on end. All you need is some contact paper, confetti and our FREE pirate chest printable. Let your child go wild with their imagination and create their very own pirate’s treasure chest.

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Treasure Chest Template {ACCESS IT ON BOX.COM}
  • Colored Printer
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Glitter, sequins, feathers, gold tissue paper circles etc.

Directions:

  • First print the FREE template above. You will want one treasure chest printable per craft.
  • Grab your scissors. Trim out the treasure chest as well as the rectangular center from it. Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab your clear contact paper. Cut out TWO pieces that are bigger than the treasure chest cutout.
  • Remove the backing from one piece of contact paper. Lay it on a flat surface. Place the treasure chest cutout, face down, on the contact paper.
  • Next have children decorate the inside of their chest however they like {remember – it’s whatever THEY want in it.}
  • Once they are done “mixing and making the perfect treasure mixture, grab the second piece of contact paper.
  • Peel off the backing and place it on top of the other piece of contact paper, moving your hand around to “squish” everything together.
  • To finish off the Stained Glass Treasure Chest craft, use your scissors to trim out the chest/remove the excess contact paper. Then display proudly on a window with tape!!!

  • Colored Printer
  • Scissors

Supplies:

  • Cardstock Paper
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Glitter, Sequins, Gold Confetti
