Craft Foam Egg Avocado Friends

Hip, hip hooray for another craft foam egg kid craft idea! This time we are making EGG AVOCADO FRIENDS!

I know, I know – this crafty idea “may” be a little outside the box BUT when an idea hits me, it really HITS me! Hopefully you see the vision like I do!

Craft Foam Egg Avocado Friends - Kid Craft

Egg Shaped Avocado Friends Made From Craft Foam Shapes

As I was brainstorming the other day on what to do with some leftover green craft foam eggs, I instantly saw an avocado {it’s strange how my brain works!} After playing around with the idea, a face was added to the crafty piece and egg shaped friends were born {similar to our donut friends from the other day!}

So whether you love avocados {or your child does} or you just want to make something “different” to craft up today… I hope you are inspired by this quick and easy egg shaped craft tutorial!

Happy crafting my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your craft foam avocado creations with us! You can ALWAYS tag us on Facebook or Instagram for easy sharing! I can’t wait to see what you make with your little crafter this spring season! #gluedtomycrafts

PAIR YOUR AVOCADO EGG FRIENDS WITH —> Cupcake Liner Avocado Friend Cards

Craft Foam Egg Avocado Friends - Kid Craft

Craft Supplies:

  • Green Craft Foam Egg Shapes – one per egg avocado friends craft
  • Dark Green Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Tan Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • School Glue or Glue Stick
  • Wiggle Eyes – two per avocado egg craft
  • Markers
  • optional materials – Pipe Cleaners and Stapler

Directions:

  • First things first – paint the rim of your craft foam egg shape, dark green. You don’t want this “rim” paint line too thick.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry.
  • Now grab your tan cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a medium sized circle for your avocado “pit.” This will become the face of your avocado.
  • Add facial embellishments to your circle piece, like wiggle eyes, a smile etc.
  • Now glue that finished piece to the center of your painted craft foam egg.
  • Finally – you can either leave your avocado friend like this now {like my first pictures in this post} or you can add some pipe cleaner legs and arms like the picture below. I just loved the look of the first pictures better. It’s really up to you!
  • If you want to make legs and arms for our friend, simply cut a tan pipe cleaner into four equal pieces and staple it to the sides of the craft foam egg.
  • Of course, when you are done with your craft – display proudly for all to see! You could even add popsicle sticks to the back of your finished egg avocado friends, to turn them into puppets!
