It’s a classic Christmas kid craft idea that never gets old! We LOVE this Beaded Candy Cane Ornaments idea and we hope you do too!

Beaded Candy Cane Ornaments

This candy cane themed craft is great for older kids and adults to complete {remember – pony beads can be choking hazards so watch younger kids carefully during and after making this craft!}

I love this particular candy cane beaded ornament craft because it only takes a few minutes to make a whole batch at once. It’s even great in a classroom setting because teachers won’t have to provide a mountain of supplies either {maybe a few packs of pipe cleaners and a big bag of beads to complete it!}

I’ve even “toyed” with the idea of just putting the two supplies in a little plastic baggie with a quick paper tag, as a small Christmas gift. You seriously can’t go wrong with this classic Christmas craft idea!!!

Whether displayed on the Christmas tree, adorning gifts, or brightening up a mantelpiece, these handcrafted treasures add a personal touch to celebrations. Ready to learn how to conjure up these festive beauties? Read on for a step-by-step guide!

Craft Supplies:

  • White Pony Beads
  • Red Pony Beads
  • Pipe Cleaners

Directions:

  • First things first – grab one pipe cleaner and handful of beads.
  • Now bend your pipe cleaner in a candy cane shape and bend one end a few times, so the beads won’t slide off of it.
  • Start threading {in a rotating red and white pattern} your pony beads onto the pipe cleaner, until full.
  • When you are done stringing the beads, simply bend the other end of the pipe cleaner closed to complete & secure the candy cane craft.
  • Repeat the above steps again to make even more awesome candy cane themed pieces!
  • Then hang your beautiful pieces on the tree as is by the loop of the finished piece or tie some string to the top of it for even more EASIER hanging.
  • This beaded candy cane ornament idea is also great to place on your Christmas gifts {it doubles as a gift too since the receiver can keep it for years to come!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
