Popsicle Stick Jack-O-Lantern Face - Kid Craft Idea Popsicle Stick Jack-O-Lantern Face - Kid Craft Idea

Get creative with your little ones this Halloween and make some spooktacular jack-o-lanterns out of popsicle sticks and paint! It’s a fun, easy craft idea and the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Orange Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • Black Sharpie Marker

Directions:

  • First grab three popsicle sticks {three per jack-o-lantern} and glue them together to look like a triangle.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat the above steps for each pumpkin piece you want to make today.
  • Now grab your orange craft paint and squirt it on the paper plate.
  • Go ahead and paint the triangle shaped popsicle stick design completely orange.
  • Set aside again, to let it dry completely.
  • While that is drying, grab your orange cardstock and cut a triangular shape that will be placed within the popsicle stick design.
  • At this time, you should also cut out other jack-o-lantern features from the remaining cardstock paper, such as a stem/leaf for on top.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Jack-O-Lanterns – have children glue on their cardstock pieces to the popsicle stick shape.
  • Use the Sharpie marker to draw on facial features in the center of the craft.
  • Then finish off with any other embellishments they see fit & set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
