Dragonfly Puppets For Valentine’s Day
Do you have some extra paper heart doilies laying around from your Valentine’s Day plans? Maybe you bought too many and you are now your regretting that purchase?
Well friends – NO NEED TO WORRY! Before you throw them out or stash them away, let’s turn them into some fun Paper Heart Doily Dragonflies with just a few simple steps and supplies! Then stick them in random flower pots, play with them like puppets or even just hand them to someone special to enjoy on a beautiful spring day!

ANOTHER CRAFT TUTORIAL USING PAPER HEART DOILIES: Doily Unicorn Valentines
Easy to make Valentine’s Day craft idea for kids. Use doilies and wavy popsicle sticks. Great for preschoolers!
Craft Supplies:
- Wavy Paddle Fan Sticks – one per dragonfly puppet
- School Glue
- Small Paint Brushes
- Your Choice of Color Craft Paint
- Small Paper Plate
- Small Paper Heart Doilies – two per dragonfly puppet
- Wiggle Eyes – two per dragonfly puppet
- Cardstock Paper
- Basic Craft Scissors
- optional materials – glitter, sequins, feather etc.
Directions:
- First have children paint their wooden fan stick completely {any color they like!} This is the body of the dragonfly. Repeat for each one you want to make today.
- Now grab TWO paper heart doilies and glue them to the center/back of the popsicle stick to represent the wings.
- At this time, go ahead and also glue on the wiggle eyes & draw on a smile with the sharpie marker.
- The last step is to cut out some antennas from the cardstock and adhere those to the back of your piece, with the wings.
- To finish off the Popsicle Stick Dragonflies – have children add other embellishments they see fit and set it all aside to let it dry completely.
- Then once dry, display proudly OR use in creative imaginative play!
