Paper Doily Owl Cards For Valentine’s Day
For my New Year’s resolution this year, I decided that WE {as a family} would try to live a more simple life this year. Only buying things we need and not depending on what we want.
As a personal goal for myself, I decided that for the entire year, I would ONLY use the craft supplies I have on hand. Although I slipped a bit {spent $5 at Walmart for some Velcro and ordered something from Oriental Trading for a sponsored post} so far it’s been pretty easy {Yikes, but it’s only 1 month down for the entire year!!!}
So on that note – when I was raiding my craft room the other day, I came across a pack of red heart dollies I picked up at Hobby Lobby this time frame last year. Like any crafter, I had good intentions when I slipped in it my cart and bought it. But of course, a whole year went by and the package was still sealed.
This my friends, is the main reason why I need to use the supplies I have on hand. My craft supply buying was getting out of control and I can only imagine how much I spent. If only I could cash it all back in. Am I right?
Anyways – back to today’s Paper Heart Doily Owl Cards craft post. When I found that pack of red heart doilies, I immediately saw an owl shape in them. That’s when I decided some handmade owl cards were in order.
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it was perfect for sending out to friends & family. After pulling together all the supplies {on hand} I was able to create these easy doily owl cards.
You wouldn’t know by looking at them, but they only took me 15 minutes to pull together. They are so easy to pull off!

Directions:
- First things first – make the base of your card. This can be any size/shape you may need. Just measure your envelopes and cut the cardstock down a bit to fit inside the card. If you have precut cards on hand, this will save you a ton of time!
- Now for the owls. Punch out two circles for the eyes and two hearts for the pupils. Then cut out a triangle for the nose of the owl. Glue it all together on the doily.
- To finish the paper owl cards, add some pop up dots to the back of the doily and stick on to the center of your card. Add some words or embellishments if you like.
- Now take a step back and admire the easy paper doily card you just put together. Mail away to a lucky receiver for them to enjoy as well!

You can change up the colors/supplies to fit your needs. Also – if making cards isn’t your thing, you could easily just glue your doily heart shaped owl onto a piece of cardstock paper and frame it for a one-of-a-kind look that you display in your home during the season.
And not that I’m pushing you to “buy” craft supplies, but with Valentine’s Day passing us soon, now is the time to go grab some paper heart doilies. The last time I was in Dollar Tree, I saw that they had the same paper doilies I got at Hobby Lobby for half the price. Hello savings!!!
