Stamped Christmas Ornament Craft

I’ve shared quite a few potato stamped craft idea on Glued To My Crafts in the past and quite frankly they are becoming my favorite kid craft to date. Mainly because they take very little effort from me {YAY} and they don’t require fancy materials either {double YAY!}

With that being said, today’s Potato Stamped Ornaments are they perfect excuse to get the kids crafty while you make dinner in the kitchen this holiday season. Just set a whole potato aside from your dinner plans and set up shop on the dining room table for the kids to get crafty on, while you follow the step-by-step tutorial below.

Seriously – you won’t believe how simple and inexpensive this kid craft is! Plus there is a FREEBIE in the supply section to get you started even faster!

Potato Stamped Christmas Ornaments

These potato stamped ornaments are a fun and easy way to get the kids involved in holiday crafting!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large, Raw Potato
  • Kitchen Knife {adult supervision!}
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Craft Paint
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Ornament Printable – on our landing page
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • If you haven’t already – go ahead and print ONE ornament shape onto thick, white cardstock paper. You need one print per craft.
  • For the first step you NEED adult supervision. Cut the potato in half. Straight down the center to create TWO pieces. You will only need need one half for this craft but no worries – because I have some other ideas on my blog for the other half, you can craft up!
  • Now squirt your various craft paints on the paper plate.
  • Have children dip one half of the potato into the paint {smear it around} then stamp it in the center of their printed ornament shape. Repeat until the ornament is completely covered!
  • To finish off the Potato Stamped Ornament, sprinkle some loose craft glitter on top of the wet paint to give the ornament that one-of-a-kind character look.
  • Then set it all aside to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly!
