Colorful Coffee Filter Snowflake Craft For Kids

My dear crafty friends. I’m so glad you are here with us today and a big WELCOME to you, as you scroll along our website!

I have tons of kid friendly winter themed crafts coming up on the Glued To My Crafts blog very soon. LIKE A TON of fresh new ideas. I’m so excited! Stay tuned and be sure to check back in the coming days! These types of blog posts are my favorite to share with you all and I hope you’re just as excited as I am!

Anyways… today I’m starting with and sharing these easy, colorful coffee filter snowflakes that we recently made together. They are super easy to recreate as winter decorations for your home, on a small {barely there} budget. They don’t take much effort but will bring several hours of fun to your home!

Now let’s all face it – you are probably a parent reading this very blog post. Am I right? So that probably means that you have coffee in your home {if you are like me – you have tons because coffee is your life line!!}

So that also probably means that you have some coffee filters laying around. Right?

With all that being said, let’s starting grabbing a few of those coffee filters for the first step of this craft and I promise you – the rest is just as easy from there! If you are willing to part with a few today – let’s get to crafting! Find the FULL step-by-step directions in our watercolor and paper snowflake tutorial below!

Happy crafting my friends!! Don’t forget to share pictures of your finished coffee filter and watercolor snowflakes on our Facebook page, to admire! We LOVE seeing the inspiration come to life in your home! #gluedtomycrafts

Directions:

  • First flatten your coffee filters.
  • Have children decorate them with the various markers, making crazy designs or anything they like. Let them just go wild with the colors. The more they add – the more of a tye-dye effect the snowflakes will get!
  • Next, using your water bottle, squirt the coffee filters until they are wet and the marker design starts to bleed. Really get them wet {make sure you have a good working area for this step!}
  • Once you have the tye-dye design you want, lay the coffee filters out so they can dry completely. I placed ours on some paper plates to dry.
  • When they are completely dry, cut your snowflake design out with scissors {just like you did back in those kindergarten days} and hang your coffee filter snowflake masterpieces for display. It’s so easy peasy!

The pictures above don’t even do our coffee filter and paper snowflakes justice. They are definitely more vibrant and beautiful in person.

I hung them up on our patio window with some clear tape, on the inside of the door. I’m thinking next time I will hang some from invisible string and hang them from our dining room chandler for extra fun.

So how are you staying busy this Sunday? Any real snowflakes in your area today? Let us know in the comments section! I love hearing where our readers are from!
