Fiesta Rice Noisemakers For Kids To Make - we used two spoons per noisemaker and a plastic egg in the center of each set. Each one is wrapped with washi tape to secure it in place

Plastic Egg & Rice Noisemakers

Lil man and I are always jamming out together in the morning. If you saw him rocking his hips to various songs we listened to, you would crack up! BIG TIME! He’s a mini Elvis in the making and I seriously wonder where he gets his moves from {cause Joe & I lack the dance gene!}

So to throw some fun into our jam sessions, I recently decided to make him some fun noisemakers to use in his jam-out sessions. And since Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner {May 5th} I thought these would be a great addition FOR YOU to recreate in honor of your celebrations. Hence the name “Fiesta Rice Noisemakers.”

And the best part of these DIY rice noisemakers?? We are using those pesky plastic eggs left over from Easter, as well as some fun washi tape already from our craft stash. This means it’s SUPER CHEAP to recreate on the fly! You just need some plastic spoons but those are super easy to find as well!

Ready to make them? I can almost guarantee you have most of the supplies in your house, making this an EASY & affordable craft. So let’s grab our supplies and follow the rice and plastic egg noisemaker tutorial below!

Happy crafting and making TONS of noise with your little ones today!

Fiesta Rice Noisemakers For Kids To Make - these are the supplies we used - dry uncooked rice, plastic spoons, plastic eggs and washi tape

This rice noisemaker craft is a fun activity for kids of all ages and can be used over and over again!

CRAFT SUPPLIES:

  • You will need – clean, empty plastic eggs, plastic spoons {two for each egg noisemaker} uncooked/dry rice, washi or painter’s tape
  • You can also substitute the dry rice for dry beans, small craft buttons, beads etc. Basically anything small that will make a shaking sound and fits inside the plastic egg noisemaker with no problem closing, can be placed inside.

DIRECTIONS:

  • First fill your plastic egg with a small amount of uncooked rice. A little bit goes a long way so don’t overfill it!
  • Close up your egg and make sure it CLICKS together nicely. {If you want to make sure no rice EVER comes out of the egg, you can super glue it shut as extra precaution.}
  • Then put your egg between two plastic spoons.
  • Wrap the spoon with washi tape, making sure the egg can’t escape. {If you don’t have washi tape, painters tape would work too}
  • And you are done. Repeat for each rice noisemaker you want to make today.

Now hand over the newly made rice filled noisemaker to your child & tell them to “shake, shake, shake!” The rice inside the plastic egg will make a sound and the handle from the spoons, make it easy for your child to hold.

And that’s a wrap on today’s music instrument tutorial! We also have our New Year’s Eve Noisemaker craft post for you to check out today! #gluedtomycrafts
