When it comes to this DIY, you can go for easy and print the provided file on brown cardstock paper and get straight to the painting step. Or add a few more “ingredients” by printing it on white paper instead and letting kids color in their “toast” design however they choose, before adding their footprint or handprint “jelly” to complete the friendship craft. You're My Jam Valentine Card Idea For Kids

Get crafty with your kids this Valentine’s Day! Here’s a simple tutorial for making a card that is sure to wow your loved ones.

Craft Supplies:

  • Blank Toast Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper or Brown
  • Washable Craft Paint
  • Large Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Heart Stickers
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • optional – crayons, glitter, rhinestones etc.

Directions:

  • First grab the punny valentine toast card printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Print the free file, on either a single sheet of white cardstock paper or brown.
  • If you choose too, now is the perfect time to color in the “toast” design. If not, move ahead to the next step.
  • Next grab your choice of color in craft paint.
  • Squirt the paint on your paper plate.
  • Pick a hand.
  • Paint your child’s chosen hand completely and press it in the center of the printable, right in the middle of the bread slice design.
  • Lift up their hand and clean off excess paint with a baby wipe & a quick trip to the sink.
  • While they are cleaning up, go ahead and grab a heart sticker & place it in the palm of the painted jelly handprint design {or paint on a small heart instead!}
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit, as well as having children sign the bottom.
  • Then display/gift proudly!
