ABC Sensory Bin Search Game

ABC Search Game For Toddlers

Remember how I shared the Kool-Aid Dyed Rice tutorial yesterday on Glued To My Crafts?

Well {like promised} today’s post is what we did with the end result. I made this fun, ABC Sensory Search Game for my Lil Man and it was a big hit in our home!

Not only could he play with the rice {by scooping and feeling the texture} but he could also search and name the letters as he went!

The BONUS part was that we could make a matching game out of the foam pieces as well.

So are you ready to learn how I pulled it together? Check out the full ABC Sensory Bin Search Game For Toddlers tutorial below and recreate it for your young one today! Then come share pictures of what you create on our Facebook page to see! #gluedtomycrafts

PLEASE SUPERVISE YOUNG CHILDREN WHILE THEY PLAY WITH, IN AND AROUND THEIR SENSORY BIN. THIS ACTIVITY CAN BE A CHOKING HAZARD FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN, SO WHEN IN DOUBT, THROW IT OUT! PLEASE USE GOOD JUDGEMENT WHEN RECREATING THIS SENSORY BIN. IF CHILDREN STILL PUT THINGS IN THEIR MOUTH, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT CREATE THIS BIN FOR THEM.

DIY Kool-Aid Dyed Rice For Sensory Bin Activities ABC Sensory Bin Search Game For Toddlers

Bin Supplies:

  • Uncooked, Dry Colored Rice
  • Large Plastic Container or Bin
  • Colorful Foam Letter Pieces
  • Large Plastic Scoop or Spoons

Directions:

  • First things first – separate and place all your foam letters into your empty plastic container.
  • Now dump your colored rice into the bin, over the foam letters to hide them.
  • Mix everything up with your hands.
  • With adult supervision, hand over the scoop and the bin & let your child “search” for the foam letters, naming them as they find them.
  • And that’s it! You could easily come up with different ways to use the bin. Shout out letters and have them search for them or only put certain letters in the bin & when they find them, brainstorm what words you can spell.
  • Repeat over and over again!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
