Craft Supplies:

This craft uses simple materials that you might already have at home. Before you begin, gather the following supplies to ensure a smooth and enjoyable crafting experience.

  • Red Construction Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Candy Cane Printable – from our landing page
  • School Glue
  • Embellishments

Please don’t feel limited by our list of supplies above. You can easily change up the materials and even colors to fit a theme or what you have on hand already! Green and/or pink candy canes are just as amazing as a red one!

Directions:

Follow these simple steps to create your own torn paper candy cane card.

  • Start by downloading and printing the free “may your holidays be sweet” candy cane template, found above.
  • Help your child tear or cut their red construction paper into small pieces. These pieces will become the inside of the candy cane design.
  • Now for the fun part! Have your child use school glue to attach the torn paper pieces inside the candy cane outline on the printable. Remember to let them know it’s all about having fun and making something unique, not about being perfect.
  • Once the striped candy design is filled in, let your child add stickers and/or a pretty bow. This is their chance to give their candy cane some holiday flair and a personality all its own!
  • Set the finished artwork aside to dry completely before you display it or gift it to someone special.
