Creating handmade cards is a classic Christmas tradition that adds a personal touch to your holiday greetings. This torn paper Santa hat card is an easy and fun craft perfect for kids of all ages, turning simple materials into a piece of festive art.

This project is fantastic because it doesn’t require perfect lines or precise cutting, making it ideal for little hands still developing their motor skills. The process of tearing paper is not only fun but also a great sensory activity. Get ready to make some creative messes and even more beautiful memories with this simple Santa hat card tutorial!

Craft Supplies:

Here’s everything you’ll need to get started on your torn paper Santa hat card:

  • Red Construction Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Santa Hat Printable – from our landing page
  • School Glue
  • White Cotton Balls
  • Embellishments

You probably already have most of these items at home! If not, they’re easily available at local craft stores or even dollar stores.

Directions:

Follow these easy steps to create a one-of-a-kind Merry Christmas card:

  • Start by downloading and printing the free Santa hat template, found above. For best results, print it on white cardstock paper.
  • Help your child tear or cut construction paper into small pieces. These pieces will become the inside of the red hat design.
  • Now for the fun part! Have your child use school glue to attach the torn paper pieces inside the hat outline on the printable. Remember to let them know it’s all about having fun and making something unique, not about being perfect.
  • For a wintery touch, help them also glue cotton balls along the cuff of the hat, as well as the adding one for the top of Santa’s hat.
  • Once done decorating the card, set the finished artwork aside to dry completely before you display it or gift it to someone special.
