Torn Paper Turkey Card Craft Idea For Thanksgiving

Get ready for some Thanksgiving fun with a simple and delightful craft perfect for little hands. This torn paper turkey project is a fantastic way to keep kids engaged and creative as the holiday approaches. Not only is it easy to set up, but it also helps children develop important fine motor skills. Tearing paper is a great workout for those small hand muscles!

Let’s gather our materials and create some colorful turkey friends. This activity is perfect for a chilly afternoon at home or as a classroom project.

Craft Supplies:

Here’s everything you’ll need to get started on your torn paper turkey masterpiece:

  • Construction Paper {any color!}
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Turkey Day Printable – from our landing page
  • School Glue
  • Small Googly Eyes
  • Embellishments

You probably already have most of these items at home! If not, they’re easily available at local craft stores or even dollar stores.

Directions:

Begin by setting up an organized crafting station. Follow these steps to bring this preschool Thanksgiving activity to life:

  • First things first – download and print out the FREE provided blank “Happy Turkey Day” printable listed above, on a single piece of white cardstock paper.
  • Have kids color in the turkey body however they like.
  • Next up, help your child cut/tear their construction paper into small pieces.
  • Now have them use school glue to glue those pieces inside the “turkey feather” design in the printable. Remind the kids that the goal isn’t perfection—it’s about having fun and creating something that’s entirely their own.
  • The final step is to have kids add a “face” to their turkey, as well as anything else they see fit.
  • Allow the paper piece to dry completely before gifting away!
