Summer is the perfect season to get creative with your little ones. It’s a time to explore colorful, easy crafts that spark imagination and bring big smiles. Today, we’re whipping up a genuinely juicy project – a Torn Paper Orange!

This fun and simple activity will have kids tearing it up (literally) and creating something they can be proud of. Get ready to squeeze every drop of creativity out of summer!

Craft Supplies:

Before we begin, gather these basic materials. You might already have most of these at home or in the classroom!

  • Orange Construction Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Squeeze Printable – on our landing page
  • School Glue
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Embellishments

Directions:

Follow these simple steps to create your vibrant “Squeeze The Most Out of Summer” craft:

  • First things first – download and print out the FREE provided blank orange printable listed above, on a single piece of white cardstock paper.
  • Have kids color in the “leaf/stem” in the design. They can use any type of coloring material and/or colors.
  • Now hand over the orange construction paper to your little artist and encourage them to tear it into small pieces. The irregular shapes give the finished project a playful, textured look, so don’t worry about perfection.
  • Next have them use school glue to glue those pieces inside the “orange” design.
  • The final step is to have kids add their own personalization. They can add wiggle eyes, dots for texture, etc.
  • When they are done decorating, allow the finished design to dry completely before gifting.
  • Be sure to also snap a photo and share it with the hashtag #GluedToMyCrafts or tag us to showcase their beautiful artwork. We’d love to see what you create!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
