Star Shaped Leprechaun Craft Idea For Kids

As St. Patrick’s Day quickly approaches, parents and teachers are on the hunt for fun and educational activities to engage their young ones.

Amid the festive season, crafting with children not only provides an enjoyable way to celebrate but cultivates creativity and fine motor skills!

In this latest tutorial from us, we’ll walk through an enchanting star shaped gnome craft that merges the golden allure of leprechauns with the wonder of rainbows — perfect for igniting your little one’s imagination during the month of March!

Craft Supplies:

  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Gold Cardstock Paper
  • STAR PRINTABLE – on our landing page
  • Scissors
  • School Glue
  • Crepe Paper {4-5 colors}

Directions:

  • First things first – download and print out the STAR shaped printable, on light or dark green cardstock paper.
  • Go ahead and trim out the star shape from the printable. Discard excess paper.
  • Now grab all your remaining sheets of cardstock paper.
  • Out of the orange cardstock paper, trace/trim out a handprint {beard} shape.
  • Out of the black and gold, cut out a leprechaun hat.
  • Out of the brown, cut out an oval nose.
  • Next up – tear a few stripes of crepe paper for the “rainbow” in the craft.
  • Now for the final steps! Start gluing your cardstock pieces in place, on the paper star shape in the designated areas. I suggest starting with the handprint beard and finishing off with the crepe paper on at the end.
  • Finally, add other embellishments you see fit and display proudly for all to see!
  • We’d love to see your final product! Don’t forget to share a photo of your creation on social media and tag us on Facebook!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
