Leprechaun Hat Craft Idea

Hi Glued To My Crafts fans! Today we are coming by with ANOTHER easy and inexpensive kids craft idea that is perfect for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday!!!

What is a Leprechaun without his iconic hat? Probably not much of a leprechaun, right?!

So on that note, that’s exactly what inspired today’s Popsicle Stick Leprechaun Hat kid craft idea! It’s perfect for littles {and bigs} to make within minutes and show off as festive holiday decor! Then follow it up with some St. Patty’s Day themed books and you will have a fun crafty afternoon together – I promise!!!

Popsicle Stick Leprechaun Hat Craft For St. Patrick's Day

Do you want to try something fun and crafty with your kids this St. Patrick’s Day? Help them make their own Leprechaun Hat using popsicle sticks! We will show you how easy it truly is!!!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 3 per craft
  • Regular Sized Popsicle Sticks – 4 per craft
  • School Glue
  • Green Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Green Craft Glitter
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors

Directions:

  • First assemble the base of your hat by gluing together the popsicle sticks. Lay the THREE jumbo sticks next to each other {side by side} and then glue the FOUR regular sized popsicle sticks towards the bottom, going the other direction. Refer to our picture for example.
  • Repeat for each hat craft you want to make. Once done, set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Next is the paint! Have children paint their popsicle stick shape completely green and finishing off with some green glitter on top while the paint is still wet.
  • Again, set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now grab the yellow cardstock and your scissors.
  • Go ahead and cut out a simple strip to go in the center of the hat {or any other shape you like!}
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Leprechaun Hat craft, glue on your cardstock piece, as well as a shamrock in the center.
  • Then let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!

Here’s your checklist of supplies to bring this craft to life:
