Handprint Candy Keepsake Ornament

This Christmas, get the kids involved in a fun and creative craft project that will keep them occupied and entertained. This handprint “sweet little child” poem keepsake is easy and simple to make, but the results are charming and unique.

Kids will love seeing their handprints turned into cute little candies, while caretakers will love showing it off on the tree!

Craft Supplies:

  • Candy Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive
  • Pencil
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Ribbon or String

Directions:

  • First things first – grab the poem keepsake printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Now print out the provided file on white cardstock paper. One print will give you TWO opportunities to recreate this craft. Go ahead and trim one design out and save the other for later.
  • The next step is completely optional BUT if you want to add some color to the craft, go ahead and glue your circle to another piece of cardstock paper and trim around it to add some stability as well.
  • Next grab your cardstock paper for the handprints, as well as your pencil.
  • Instruct your child to lay BOTH of their hands on the colored paper {with their hands completely flat and fingers spread apart.}
  • Trace around their hands with the pencil.
  • Next, instruct them to cut out BOTH designs with the scissors.
  • Now for the final step! Adhere BOTH of the handprint cutouts to the side of the poem cutout.
  • At this point in time you should also punch a hole at the top of the keepsake and string some ribbon through it.
  • Go ahead and also add ANY and all embellishments to give their holiday themed Christmas ornament piece a personalized look.
  • Don’t forget to write your child’s name, age and date on the back!
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful handprint Christmas ornament keepsake piece!
  • BTW – you can also do this very craft with painted HANDPRINTS instead – hint hint! That would be a REALLY special gift for grandparents under the tree!
