Dad You Are My Sunshine Handprint Keepsake

We are hoping to hit VIRAL status again, just like our previous version of this yellow sun craft! I’ve taken our super popular Mom You Are My Sunshine printable from year’s past and revamped it for a Father’s Day version, just for you today!

With the “all about dad” day quickly approaching this month, I’m super excited to be sharing today’s Handprint Dad You Are My Sunshine kids craft idea with you all right now!

For memories and a simple gift idea that dad can treasure for years to come, this DIY handprint keepsake craft is perfect for framing and/or turning into a card. Just download, print and add your child’s handprint “sunshine” to complete the craft!

You won’t believe how simple it is to create this You Are My Sunshine craft! Find the complete yellow sunshine instructions below. Happy crafting, my friends!

Handprint Dad You Are My Sunshine - Free Printable

Tell someone “you always light up my world, you are my sunshine” with our latest craft idea!

Craft Supplies:

  • Sunshine Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable, Yellow Craft Paint
  • Large, Foam Paint Brush
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First grab the “Dad You Are My Sunshine” template listed above to your computer.
  • Now go find it and print it in color on a single sheet of white cardstock {or any color you like!}
  • Grab your yellow craft paint and paper plate.
  • Squirt some paint on the paper plate.
  • Paint your child’s hand completely yellow and press it in the center of the printable, between the two “D’s.”
  • If desired, sprinkle some glitter on top of the wet paint for added flair.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit {like maybe a smile or rays coming from the handprint} as well as having children sign the bottom.
  • Then display/gift your “handprint dad sunshine” piece proudly!
