Create a lasting memory and turn your kid’s tiny footprint into a monster truck keepsake.
Monster Truck Keepsake Canvas
You know what I love the most? Handprint and footprint canvas crafts. Not just for me BUT for others as well! It’s like a “time capsule” because you are locking that moment in time, right on the canvas.
Recently my son and I made this “Monster Truck” canvas keepsake to place in his room {because he is a HUGE Monster Jam fan} but I could see this DIY being gifted to someone who LOVES trucks, cars etc. Honestly, I think this craft idea would be perfect as a DIY present for Father’s Day – hint hint!
Wanna learn how YOU can make one with your child? Let’s grab our supplies and get to work – shall we? You can find ALL the details you need to know in the full tutorial below!
Happy crafting {and gifting} my dear friends! Please don’t forget to share pictures of your child’s finished painted footprint monster truck canvas with us on our Facebook page to see! I can’t wait to see what colors your child picks for their truck! #gluedtomycrafts

CRAFT SUPPLIES:
- A large, blank artist canvas {any size you want!} washable craft paint, foam paint brushes, a small paper plate and baby wipes for easy cleanup
- We used tempera paint crayons to complete ours, but you can of course use anything you have on hand. From craft paint to Sharpie markers – go for it! You can even bring out the glitter and rhinestones too!!!
You can find ALL our favorite craft supplies via our AMAZON SHOP link!
DIRECTIONS:
- To recreate your own Footprint Monster Truck, all you need to do is paint the bottom of your child’s choice of foot {left or right} in any color THEY like and press it in the center of the blank, white canvas.
- Be sure to remove paint of their feet with a few baby wipes and soap/water afterwards.
- Now you have the start of the truck. From there, children are going to paint {or draw} on their version of what they want their monster truck embellishments to look like. Have them start with big tires on the bottom and build from there. They can add lights, windows… maybe even add a flag on the back!
- We also added some scenery like clouds, dirt under the truck etc. to really tie it all together and set the scene.
- Then when they are done decorating it, set it aside to let it dry completely.
- Don’t forget to also have children sign the back with their name and date, so you never forget when it was made!
So that’s it!!! That’s a wrap on this footprint monster truck keepsake canvas idea. It’s so easy peasy, that this tutorial is that short! I just hope you see our vision and are inspired to recreate your own with your child today!
