Fingerprint Sunflower Craft – You Are My Sunshine

We all know and love the classic children’s song “You Are My Sunshine.” What better way to teach our kids about the power of positivity and sunshine than by making this thumbprint painted sunflower craft with them?

This simple and fun flower project is perfect for both young and old alike, and is a great way to bring some light into your home during these dark winter months.

The best part is that every sunflower is unique, just like the people they’re made for. So gather up some supplies and let’s get started!

Thumbprint Sunflower Card Craft

Check out this easy and fun sunflower craft that kids will love! All you need is some paint, paper, and your fingers!

Craft Supplies:

  • Sunflower Printable {on our spring landing page}
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow and Green Paint Crayons
  • Washable Brown Ink Pads
  • Baby Wipes

Directions:

  • First print out the free sunflower printable, listed above, on white cardstock paper.
  • Have children use their paint crayons to color in the flower petals and stem of the sunflower design.
  • Next up – open up the brown ink pad!
  • Press your child’s thumb on the brown ink pad and then press it down, several times, right in the center of the printable.
  • Repeat until you have the look of several seeds inside the sunflower.
  • When done with the ink, use baby wipes to remove excess ink off of fingers.
  • And that’s it! Add other embellishments you see fit on your thumbprint sunflower creation.
  • Then display/gift proudly!
