The holidays wouldn’t be complete without a chimney and fireplace for Santa to come through on Christmas Eve – right?! So that’s exactly what inspired today’s Popsicle Stick Christmas Fireplace kid craft idea!

 Fireplace Craft Idea For Kids To Make This Christmas

At Glued To My Crafts we LOVE thinking outside the box when it comes to our kid craft tutorials. It really makes my heart so happy to come up with these creative ideas and share them with you all on this little platform of mine.

On that note – I’m super excited to be sharing my original craft stick fireplace tutorial with you today! It’s was inspired by my love of decorating the mantle during the holiday season! Hopefully you see my vision on this one!

To recreate this Christmas fireplace craft, you will need some inexpensive wooden lollipop sticks, colored cardstock paper and craft paint. That’s it! With those simple supplies you too can create a one-of-a-kind piece with your child in no time! Then use your finished piece as an Christmas tree ornament, decor piece or even for some pretend play fun {like in a doll house or fairy garden setup!}

Popsicle Stick Christmas Fireplace

Looking for a festive and easy kid craft idea? Look no further than this popsicle stick fireplace! Your kids will love creating this Christmas decoration.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Paper Plate
  • Paint Brush
  • School Glue
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Sharpie Marker
  • Holiday Stickers

Directions:

  • First assemble the base of your Christmas fireplace piece by gluing your SIX popsicle sticks together like a picture frame {see above picture for example.}
  • Next up – squirt some brown craft paint on a small paper plate.
  • Using the foam paint brush, have children paint the front of their newly made popsicle stick shape completely brown.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry.
  • Now grab all your cardstock sheets and scissors.
  • Cut a large rectangle piece that will fit on the back of the fireplace and be the chimney.
  • Use the black Sharpie marker to draw on “bricks” and give it some dimension.
  • Out of the remaining cardstock, cut out some small wood logs and a fire.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Christmas Fireplace craft, have children glue their cardstock embellishments to the popsicle stick design.
  • Follow that up with your felt stocking and Christmas presents stickers, to tie it all together.
  • Then either decorate your piece with added glitter, rhinestones or even more craft paint before displaying proudly for all to see!!!
