Put some extra spooky into your crafting! Grab those mini popsicle sticks and get ready to craft a spider!

Craft Supplies:

  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Black Craft Paint
  • Small Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Small Wiggle Eyes
  • Kid Friendly Scissors
  • Loose Halloween Craft Glitter

Directions:

  • First have children glue their mini popsicle sticks {7 total} together to look like a fence. Place five next to each other, then glue two popsicle sticks the other direction to hold it all together.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Repeat for each spider you want to make.
  • Once your pieces are secured together, go ahead and have children paint their popsicle stick piece completely black.
  • Repeat for each piece.
  • While the paint is still wet, go ahead and have children sprinkle some glitter on top to give the spiders some Halloween flair.
  • Shake off the excess and set aside to let it dry.
  • Now grab our black cardstock and scissors.
  • Go ahead and cut out small strips out of the paper to represent the legs of the spider. We did SIX on ours.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Spiders – have children glue the black cardstock legs to the popsicle stick piece, as well as the wiggle eyes to give it life.
  • Then let it all dry completely again before playing/displaying with proudly!!!
  • Remember – you can also add string to the back of your finished pieces for easy hanging around the house!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
